American Leadership Academy is now accepting applications for a Choir/Orchestra Teacher for the academic year for our campuses located in the East Valley
. Candidates must possess, or be willing to obtain, a valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Plans, rehearses and directs orchestra classes, grades (Jazz, Concert, Marching) with a minimum of four evening performances per school year.
- Cooperates with the district and school administration in providing music programs for sporting events, school productions, graduation ceremonies and as appropriate, civic functions that enhance the students’ performing experience.
- Seeks performance opportunities and implements participation of the orchestra in out-of-school orchestra experiences appropriate to the curriculum and student interests.
- Helps to manage the inventory, storage and use of school owned equipment and materials.
- Is able to make minor adjustments and repairs to instruments.
- Prepares effective lessons/rehearsals that reflect accommodations for individual student differentiation.
- Plans and uses appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
- Implement a comprehensive choir curriculum that aligns with educational standards and encourages student engagement.
- Conduct choir rehearsals, providing instruction in vocal techniques, music theory, and ensemble performance.
- Select appropriate repertoire for various skill levels and diverse musical styles, ensuring an enriching experience for all students.
- Prepare students for performances, including concerts, competitions, and community events, coordinating logistics and rehearsals.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their growth as musicians.
- Create a positive and inclusive environment that encourages collaboration, creativity, and respect among students.
- Collaborate with other music educators and faculty to integrate music education across the curriculum.
- Organize and manage choir-related activities, such as workshops, masterclasses, and guest artist visits.
- Stay current with trends in vocal music education and apply innovative teaching practices in the classroom.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Music, or related field
- Arizona Teaching Certificate or 24 credit hours in area or Content knowledge exams (AEPA, NES, Praxis)
