SummaryThe Welding Skills Instructor prepares instructions and materials for classroom activities and skills demonstrations, and assists students during class. The instructor adheres to Pima County JTED policies, procedures, and dress code while at work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist the instructor in the lab in advance of class.
- Set up laboratory equipment needed for practicum demonstrations and rotations.
- Ensure the lab is stocked with necessary supplies, monitor inventory, restock as needed, and keep the instructor informed.
- Work closely with the instructor and students during class activities.
- Monitor and assist students while they work on skills and answer questions.
- Read all guidelines provided by the instructor before the lesson.
- Set up classroom equipment and supplies, including copying forms.
- Collect, monitor, and file required paperwork.
- Assist with CTSO activities and meetings.
- Attend field trips in the role of chaperone as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications / Education and/or
Experience:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Welding training certifications (e.g., AWS, NCCER, OSHA).
- Proficiency with construction skills.
- Knowledge of welding equipment operation and techniques.
- Knowledge of Google Apps and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Proof of MMR immunization unless born before January 1, 1957.
- Negative TB test within the last year.
- Valid IVP fingerprint clearance card or ability to obtain one.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of internet use for research purposes.
- Knowledge of using a high‑volume copy machine.
