Behavior Intervention Specialist
We are hiring a Behavioral Intervention Specialist to support students in academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs. The specialist works with teachers, counselors, psychologists, administrators and the MTSS team to assess, monitor and collect data on students with significant behavior issues, develop appropriate behavior plans, train staff on implementation, evaluate effectiveness, and support student safety while ensuring equity.
SummaryThe Behavioral Intervention Specialist will support students in the areas of academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs. Works in collaboration with teachers, counselors, psychologists, administration, and MTSS team to assess, monitor, and collect data on students with significant behavior issues in order to devise an appropriate behavior plan. Train staff on the implementation and evaluate the effectiveness of the behavior plan. Understand and appreciate diversity.
Work collaboratively with a team to support student safety and further the work of the Unitary Status Plan in the fair and equitable treatment of students in schools.
- Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate
- Knowledge or training in behavior management techniques
- Verbal & written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions.
- Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.
- Valid Arizona Special Education Teaching Certificate
- Three (3) years teaching experience
- Demonstrated success in engaging African American and Latino students
- Bilingual (Spanish) endorsement
- Knowledge of the implementation of the Response to Intervention for academics, social-emotional, and behavior and the ability to communicate this process with staff
- Knowledge of Restorative Practice and Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS)

Exceptional Education Department - sites vary
FTE: 1.0 – 7.5 hours per day
Work Calendar: 9.5 months
Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.
Salary will be prorated if the start date is after the first day of the work calendar for the position.
