The University of Arizona Libraries (UAL) welcomes applications for the Assistant Director position at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Library (UAHSL). The Assistant Director will provide leadership for the Research and Learning team, supervising and supporting six liaison librarians in delivering high-impact, responsive services. They will help build and sustain strong partnerships across UA Health Sciences, collaborating with campus stakeholders to advance shared goals.

Working closely with the UAHSL Director on a day-to-day basis, they will also partner with Main Library and UAHSL colleagues to facilitate the health sciences collections strategy to ensure the effective acquisition and management of information resources in support of the library's teaching and research mission. In addition, they will serve as a key representative of UAHSL within the Arizona Health Information Network (AZHIN), contributing to statewide collaboration among clinical and academic institutions.

The Assistant Director will be appointed to a continuing-status track, academic professional position at the rank of Associate or Full Librarian. Incumbents are members of the general faculty and are entitled to all accompanying rights and privileges granted by the Arizona Board of Regents and the University of Arizona. Retention and promotion are earned through achieving a record of excellence in position effectiveness, scholarship, and service.

Compensation includes a base salary linked to academic rank plus a stipend for Assistant Director responsibilities. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Duties & Responsibilities
- Research & Learning (R&L) Team Management Provides vision and administrative oversight for the R&L team, which includes six health sciences liaison faculty librarians. Leads the R&L team in delivering a full range of knowledge-based services, including evidence-based practice instruction, informatics training, and advanced research support (e.g., systematic and scoping reviews). Drives an innovative approach to identifying and evaluating new information services and models that will meet the evolving needs of clinical, educational, and research constituencies and align with UAHSL commitments to resource sustainability.

Strategic Administrative Leadership Leads the planning, implementation, and contracting of services for external entities, including clinical affiliates and non-university partners. Represents the Library on UA Health Sciences-wide initiatives, as requested by the Director, to enhance the impact and relevance of programming for all stakeholder groups. Oversees library emergency preparedness and ensures alignment with university-wide strategic initiatives to foster a welcoming and positive environment.

Outreach & Engagement Coordinates UAHSL's outreach strategy, including exhibits, events, and internship programs, in coordination with R&L librarians and Operations personnel. Collaborates with faculty librarians and campus partners to strengthen relationships with academic, research, and clinical stakeholders. Serves as a representative to the Arizona Health Information Network (AZHIN) and other regional or national partners, as designated by the Director. Works collaboratively with UAHSL AZHIN personnel and AZHIN colleagues to expand access to critical health information by participating in consortium planning, licensing discussions, budgeting conversations, and resource negotiations.
