Lecturer, Integrated Business and Engineering

The Department of Systems & Industrial Engineering is seeking an instructor for its Introduction to Integrated Business and Engineering Design course (1-unit, Fall) and Introduction to Business and Engineering Projects course (2-unit, Spring). These courses are required for integrated business and engineering students.

The position is part-time, teaching 5 hours per week, and will have responsibilities in preparing lecture materials, student assessments (quizzes, homework assignments, exams, projects), and delivering lectures at the University of Arizona Main Campus in Tucson, AZ.

Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Responsibilities
  • Teach one section of IBE 101 in the Fall and one section of IBE 102 in the Spring.
  • Support the development of the courses and associated projects.
  • Prepare and deliver instructional materials and guide/lead class activities once per week in the Fall semester at the University of Arizona Main Campus in Tucson, AZ.
  • Ensure successful delivery of the course's learning objectives through the creation and dissemination of student assessments (quizzes, homework, exams, projects).
  • Establish and adhere to grading rubrics to ensure students understand grading expectations.
  • Provide timely feedback to students on their submitted assignments.
  • Maintain course materials in the University's chosen Learning Management System.
  • Gather and report learning outcomes assessment to department advisor.
  • Assist in the professional development of students as appropriate.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Subject matter mastery in engineering and business/entrepreneurship.
  • Command of Learning Management System (D2L/Brightspace).
  • Ability to provide students with feedback on assignments, projects, and exams.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or closely related discipline and 5 years of experience as an engineering professional in one or more industrial organizations.

OR

  • Master's degree in an engineering or closely related discipline.
  • Selected candidate must provide education credentials during the offer discussions.
