The Senior Coordinator reports to the Director of Fostering Success and assists in the development, implementation, and programming of recruitment and retention initiatives for students who have experienced foster care, housing insecurity, or are considered unaccompanied youth.

The Senior Coordinator reports to the Director of Fostering Success and assists in the development, implementation, and programming of recruitment and retention initiatives for students who have experienced foster care, housing insecurity, or are considered unaccompanied youth. The Coordinator works one-on-one with program participants, supervises student staff and facilitates group engagement opportunities to build skills, access resources, and build community. This position collaborates with numerous community and campus partners on behalf of the program to reduce barriers, build access to resources, and develop a support network for Fostering Success students in collaboration with other full-time and student staff members.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Trauma-Informed Student Engagement and Support:
  • Conduct outreach to program participants regularly to assess needs and connect students with resources.
  • Meet individually with participants to navigate challenges and opportunities throughout their college experience.
  • Serve as a point of support for student participants experiencing crises or other elevated needs.
  • Facilitate programming related to financial aid processes.
  • Conduct outreach to prospective Fostering Success students to increase awareness of services to eligible current and future University of Arizona students.
  • Facilitate transition support for incoming first-year and transfer students eligible for Fostering Success participation.

Supervise Fostering Success Undergraduate Staff

  • Supervise undergraduate student employees in collaboration with other full-time Fostering Success staff.
  • Recruit, hire and train Fostering Success undergraduate staff members.
  • Plan and facilitate Fostering Success weekly staff meetings and ongoing collective professional development for student employees.
  • Assess and support individual professional development needs of Fostering Success undergraduate staff.
  • Serve as a mentor and coach to undergraduate student staff members.
  • Provide accountability and support for program engagement activities planned and hosted by student staff.

General Program Operations Support

  • Assist with collaborator and partner cultivation, engagement, and management including on and off campus organizations.
  • Assist with assessment of program events, services, and resources to evaluate impact on students.
  • Collaborate on program strategic planning efforts.
  • Oversee basic needs inventory management and distribution.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Sociology or Psychology.
