Position Highlights

This is a temporary position lasting from August 2026 - January 2027.

The primary purpose of this position is to assist in the delivery of semester-based after school programming for high school and middle school youth, as well as summer programming camps for high school, middle school, and youth center program youth for Pima County Cooperative Extension's The Garden Kitchen (TGK) program. The incumbent will assist in the physical setup of the kitchen, garden, classroom, and recreational spaces, assist with the community engagement process with partners and youth to co-design programming content, support the implementation of a trauma-informed, inclusive learning environment and implementation of programming at sites, support high school participant peer mentors for younger cohorts, assist in coordinating delivery of program materials, and record entries into data collection systems.

This position will require the ability to obtain a Food Handler's Card and a Fingerprint One Clearance Card.

Duties & Responsibilities Program Logistics Coordination
  • Deliver support for Cooperative Extension educational programs, workshops, seminars, and contests delivered through extension offices in Arizona communities, in assigned focus areas such as agriculture, youth development (e.g., 4-H), natural resources, family and consumer sciences, or community development.
  • Coordinate logistical details for extension educational programs, workshops, seminars, and contests in assigned focus areas, including reserving rooms, arranging equipment, and organizing materials.
  • Confirm event details with presenters, staff, and community partners, and communicate schedules and expectations to participants.
  • Prepare and organize materials and supplies so programs begin on time and run smoothly.
Outreach and Community Communication
  • Carry out routine outreach activities, such as distributing flyers, sending email invitations, and posting program updates on websites and social media, to inform local residents about extension offerings in assigned focus areas.
  • Respond to participant and community inquiries about program offerings, eligibility, and registration, and route more complex questions to extension professionals or faculty.
  • Maintain contact lists for participants, volunteers, and partners to support ongoing communication.
Administrative and Session Support
  • Provide administrative support for public extension information sessions and community presentations, including preparing agendas, sign-in materials, handouts, and basic audio-visual needs.
  • Support on-site delivery of events by greeting attendees, managing sign-in, and assisting facilitators with materials during sessions.
  • Help ensure accessibility and a welcoming environment for various participants.
Data Tracking and Documentation
  • Monitor and track attendance, program metrics, and participant feedback for extension programs using established forms and databases.
  • Compile routine evaluation data, basic statistics (such as counts and percentages), and participant comments to support internal reports and outreach assessments.
  • Maintain organized records of events, outreach activities, and participant lists for future reference and reporting.
Volunteer and Participant Scheduling
  • Coordinate schedules for volunteers and participants to ensure adequate coverage for extension program operations and community events across Arizona counties.
  • Confirm assignments, shifts, and instructions with volunteers in advance of events.
  • Track volunteer hours and participation for program documentation and recognition.
