Position Highlights

The Assistant Director of Non-Credit Programs provides strategic and operational leadership over the university’s portfolio of non-credit continuing and professional education offerings. This role oversees the development, deployment, and maintenance of non-credit programs, including adapting for-credit content for non-credit platforms. The Assistant Director also leads collaborations with colleges, departments, faculty, and staff to design and deliver customized learning solutions that meet the evolving needs of professional learners and industry partners.

This position supervises three content architects and works closely with instructional design and business development teams, ensuring non-credit offerings align with institutional goals for innovation, access, and workforce development.

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement. While many responsibilities may be completed remotely, the role requires weekly on-site presence at the Tucson, Arizona campus to fulfill duties that must be performed in person.

Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Program Development

  • Provides leadership for the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of non-credit continuing and professional education programs.
  • Develops programmatic strategy alongside the Sr. Director of Learning Programs to seamlessly align non-credit offerings with Arizona Online's robust program offerings to meet institutional priorities for access, workforce development, and lifelong learning.

Oversight and Supervision of Non-Credit Content Teams

  • Supervises and supports content architects, responsible for developing content for non-credit formats, and Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.
  • Ensures instructional quality, learner engagement, and platform compatibility.

Partnership and Custom Program Development

  • Leads the development of customized non-credit learning solutions in collaboration with colleges, departments, faculty, and staff.
  • Engages internal and external stakeholders, including the Arizona Online Executive Director for Corporate Partnerships and Business Initiatives, to identify industry training needs and co-create professional development opportunities.

Operations and Program Maintenance

  • Oversees the life cycle of non-credit offerings, including regular review and revision of program content, learner experience, and platform performance.
  • Coordinates with marketing, enrollment, and support teams to ensure smooth operations and learner satisfaction.

Evaluation and Reporting

  • Monitors key performance indicators for non-credit offerings, analyzes learner and partner feedback, and produces reports to inform continuous improvement.
  • Ensures program alignment with university goals and accreditation or compliance requirements where applicable.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with different groups/individuals.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities.
  • Knowledge of non-credit continuing and professional education.
