Part‑Time Faculty (MD, DO) – Simulation Center Instructor (College of Medicine‑Phoenix)

The Center for Simulation and Innovation (CSI) at the University of Arizona, College of Medicine‑Phoenix is a state‑of‑the‑art 33,000 square‑foot facility dedicated to improving health care through educational simulation. Simulation Faculty Pool members collaborate with nationally recognized educators, researchers, and clinicians to develop and deliver a simulation curriculum that enhances medical student education and patient care.

• Integrate simulation‑based training into all four years of the medical student curriculum, facilitating small‑group teaching, active discussions, debriefings, procedural training, and practice.
• Participate in and facilitate simulation events throughout the academic year, working closely with Simulation Curriculum Directors, Block, Clerkship, Theme, and Course Directors.
• Develop, review, and organize simulation scenarios for medical students, coordinate facilitated debriefing sessions, and support the recruitment and training of faculty volunteers.
• Attend simulation activities, curricular events, and committee meetings as they arise.
• Work a minimum of 25 hours in simulation per academic year, with a maximum of 200 hours per academic year.

• Listen attentively in an environment with multiple auditory, visual, tactile, and verbal cues requiring prompt responses.
• Maintain close visual capability to work on computers, interpret screen displays, patient monitors, and read labels on medications and equipment.
• Stand or sit for up to 5 hours at a time while facilitating a simulation scenario.
• Perform procedures and clinical maneuvers on mannequins and task trainers during certain simulation events.

• MD or DO.
• Board Certified.
• Licensed to practice medicine in Arizona at the time of appointment.
• Good standing with the medical board of the specialty.
• Dedicated to the delivery of patient‑centered medicine.
• Available to work a minimum of 25 hours in simulation per academic year.
• Non‑faculty employees must obtain university faculty status, including letters of recommendation and review by the appropriate college committee.

• Practicing clinician in a specialty that encompasses the content taught in the Simulation Faculty Track.
• Experience with medical student or graduate medical education.
• Experience teaching simulation.
• Ability to work as a member of the healthcare team, demonstrating communication and leadership skills.
• At least one year of technical experience with remote or virtual environments using video conferencing software, preferably Zoom.
