Position Overview

Academics of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities. AMS is seeking a passionate and student-centered Kindergarten Teacher to provide rigorous, standards-aligned instruction while creating a strong academic and social foundation for our youngest scholars. The ideal candidate will foster curiosity, independence, and a love of learning while helping students develop foundational literacy, mathematics, social-emotional, and classroom readiness skills.

AMS teachers are collaborative professionals who believe all scholars can achieve at high levels through structured instruction, strong classroom culture, and consistent data-driven decision-making. This role requires a teacher who is committed to supporting students in TitleI communities while maintaining high academic expectations and creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instruction & Student Achievement
    Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction aligned with Arizona Academic Standards and AMS curriculum frameworks.
    Provide developmentally appropriate instruction in early literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, and social-emotional learning.
    Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic and developmental needs of all learners.
    Utilize formative and summative assessment data to drive instructional planning and targeted interventions.
    Foster curiosity, critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and independence.
    Maintain accurate student records, grades, and progress monitoring documentation.
  • Classroom Culture & Student Support
    Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and high-expectations classroom environment.
    Implement PBIS and proactive classroom management strategies to promote student engagement and positive behavior.
    Support students' academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and developmental growth.
    Teach and reinforce classroom routines, expectations, independence, and positive peer interactions.
    Build strong relationships that encourage student confidence, responsibility, and success.
  • Collaboration & Professional Growth
    Participate in weekly professional development, coaching cycles, and Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
    Collaborate with grade-level teams, instructional coaches, interventionists, and school leadership.
    Contribute to school-wide initiatives focused on continuous improvement and student achievement.
    Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional learning and reflective instructional practice.
  • Family Engagement
    Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, classroom expectations, and academic goals.
    Conduct parent-teacher conferences and maintain positive partnerships with families.
    Support family engagement through school events, conferences, and ongoing communication.
    Provide families with strategies and resources to support learning and development at home.
Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:
Valid teaching certification in Elementary Education or a related subject area; OR Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field; OR Minimum of three (3) years of K–8 teaching experience.
