SUMMARY

The Resource Teacher is responsible for developing the instructional program to meet individual needs of students in Special Education within the school setting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

include the following, are non-exhaustive and may be supplemented; other duties may be assigned. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential duties in a satisfactory manner.

  • Serves as case manager responsible for coordinating the development, monitoring, and implementation of inclusion student's Individual Education Plan (IEP).
  • Promotes the Special Education Common Language and shared responsibility to “our students.”
  • Provides instruction on grade-level standards using effective accommodations.
  • Collaborates with the general education teacher to share accommodations and strategies, including Assistive Technology, so students can access the grade-level curriculum.
  • Communicates consistently with the general education teacher regarding the student’s progress, using data. Work with the team to determine the level of frequency.
  • Communicates consistently with the general education teacher regarding the content to be taught.
  • Ensures that each student’s accommodations are written and communicated for formatives, benchmarks, and state testing.
  • Facilitates the IEP process, create data collection systems for the IEP goals, and write quarterly progress notes based on written data.
  • Establishes and provides targeted instruction to remediate areas of need created by the student’s disability.
  • Establishes and maintains a proactive, site-based, process to determine the schedule, instruction, and IEP and post-secondary goals for each student.
  • Establishes and maintains a proactive, site-based, process for grading that provides parents, teachers, and students with an accurate reflection of the student’s growth, effort, and proficiency related to grade-level standards.
  • Consults with the site’s Student Solutions Team team as needed.
  • Serves as a resource to colleagues by providing materials, remedial interventions, and strategies for student success.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

May be assigned supervisory duties of paraprofessionals, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Valid Arizona Special Education special education teaching certificate
  • Valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card
LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL

SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
