The Electro-Optics Department within Raytheon Missiles & Defense is seeking a qualified Sr. Opto-Mechanical Engineer to design opto‑mechanical and EO subsystems using Creo (Pro/E). The role involves concept development, detailed design, analysis, integration, testing, and transition to production. The successful candidate will support factory production line activities and troubleshoot at supplier sites.

• Work within a multi‑disciplined team and independently with little supervision.
• Develop and leverage professional networks to obtain assistance when needed.
• Apply proper engineering discipline to all designs.
• Provide the best technical solution that balances cost, schedule, and performance.
• Support transition to production, including factory line support, root‑cause analysis, and corrective action at suppliers.

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) and a minimum of 5 years of mechanical design and analysis experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and 3‑D CAD tools (Creo).
• Experience with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ANSI Y14.5.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in opto‑mechanical design/analysis of imagers, afocals, gimbals, or focus/field‑of‑view switching mechanisms.
• Experience with Finite Element Analysis.
• Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
• Business acumen.
• Ability to travel to government and other facilities to support program activities.
• Active DoD issued security clearance.
• Mechanical aptitude to solve moderate‑scope technical problems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Industry‑related mechanical design and documentation experience.

Salary range: $82,000 – $164,000 USD.
