Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) is responsible for ensuring our products are Safe, Reliable, Usable, Maintainable and delivered on time. LCE consists of multiple specialty disciplines that influence the design and architecture of Raytheon products. Our LCE resources interface directly with program leadership, technical leadership, and our customers throughout the total life cycle of our products from conception to deactivation. Our engineers provide subject matter expertise in the following engineering disciplines:
Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Testability, System Safety, Human Factors, and Supportability.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Senior System Safety Engineer to join us onsite on the System Safety Engineering team in Tucson, AZ.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Performing System Safety planning, hazard analyses, and design analyses
- Briefing safety considerations at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process
- Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications and military standards
- Preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program
- Collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design
- Interfacing with other engineering functions:
Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Hardware Engineering - Managing System Safety Working Group(s) between key Raytheon and Customer representatives
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
- Experience with System Safety Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, or equivalent Safety Engineering.
- An active and transferable Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for the required security clearance.
- Experience with DoD System Safety Programs e.g. MIL-STD-882
- Experience in electrical systems and/or weapon combat systems
- Experience in presentation skills
- Experience managing a safety program and providing directions to support safety personnel
- Experience with Engineering Change Proposals, Engineering Review Boards, System Safety Working Groups
- Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Proposal Development
