ShipboardEffectors Department
The Shipboard Effectors Department is currently searching for a Mechanical Design Engineer to work on a multi-discipline team to support the production of Shipboard Effectors products and subsystems located in Tucson, AZ.
This is an owner role with regular support required in a production facility.
The Mechanical Engineering position performs in alignment to expectations in the design, development and production support areas associated with mechanical designs, validation principles, qualification processes, procurement, and production processes across a design life cycle. Development work may include requirements understanding, concept development, DFMAs, PFMAs, margin analysis, technical data package (TDP) development, application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principles, engineering test principles, preparation of technical analysis reports, and presenting in design reviews.
WhatYou Will Do
As a Mechanical Engineer in an individual contributor role, responsibilities include technical execution of tasks, recommending solutions to a wide range of complex technical problems related to the design, manufacture, integration, and production sustainment of various mechanical sub-systems both in the engineering lab and the factory floor both at Raytheon Technologies and at suppliers.
Post critical design activities include contributing to first article inspections, work instruction reviews, material dispositions, and root cause investigations to production issues. Decisions are data driven and require preparing technical justification analysis reports and presenting to a variety of Engineering Review Boards.
Other responsibilities include a commitment to program schedule and budget, and 3D parametric modeling.
Qualifications You Must Have- Requires a Master’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
- Experience with 3D CAD tools (modeling and drawing).
- Experience with interpreting assembly and/or component drawings, creating tools such as AutoCAD, Solid Works, Creo Parametric or similar software.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ANSI Y14.5.
- Proficient in Creo (modeling and drawing) and Windchill (PDM).
- Mechanical aptitude to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; both verbal and written.
- Ability to work in teams or independently, flexible, demonstrates initiative.
- Active DoD issued security clearance.
