What You Will Do
- Research, develop, design, and test electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks.
- Design electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes. Produce products according to specifications, using the most cost‑effective and efficient means. Analyze and evaluate new or improved electronic components. Include power generation, transmission and distribution, rotating machinery, illumination, wire communication systems, and servomechanisms.
- Apply circuit theory, computer design and development, instrumentation, radio communications, semiconductor devices, solid‑state devices, and television systems.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
- Professional electrical engineering design experience, including electronic design, troubleshooting, analysis, and testing from circuit‑card level through systems level.
- Experience using electrical engineering design and analysis tools such as Altium, DX Designer, Mentor Capital, Creo Schematic, Xilinx Vivado, or equivalent.
- Experience using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, network analyzers, power meters, etc.
- Experience using schematic capture tools and interpreting schematics, or performing advanced FPGA firmware development (VHDL or Verilog).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Remote work is not possible.
- Experience leading focused multi‑disciplinary teams doing hardware integration, including tasking responsibility.
- Experience working with programming real‑time operating systems or embedded systems; excellent technical writing and formal presentation experience; working knowledge of computer architecture and computer hardware optimization techniques.
- Experience with developing and implementing programming languages.
- Experience utilizing integrated development environments and debugging tools to troubleshoot software; ability and willingness to use existing designs as a starting point to interface with new units under test (UUTs) and UUT configurations when necessary.
- Experience with troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis.
- Experience performing analog, digital, and/or RF design, or VHDL/Verilog development for FPGAs.

This position is onsite at our campus in beautiful Tucson, AZ. Tucson is known for its friendly, caring, and laid‑back atmosphere, with bright blue skies and over 310 sunny days per year.
Security ClearanceDoD Clearance:
Secret. Ability to obtain interim U.S. government‑issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
The salary range for this role is $86,800 – $165,200 USD. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to role, function and responsibilities, candidate’s experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
