Contract opportunity with SOC's client. Work onsite in Tucson, AZ.

Contract Length: 6 months

Job Description

The Test Equipment Engineering (TEE) organization includes all engineering disciplines responsible for systems design and test. Our engineers support the full development lifecycle, including test requirements, test system design, integration, and validation. We are hands‑on, leveraging advanced tools and technologies to deliver state‑of‑the‑art test solutions for some of the most complex engineering systems in the world.

Role Overview

As a Systems Engineer within TEE, you will coordinate across multidisciplinary engineering teams to define, design, and document test environment capabilities and requirements. You will apply a systems‑thinking mindset to ensure effective test strategies across the entire product lifecycle—from component‑level testing through full system (All‑Up‑Round) validation.

Depending on experience level, this role may include increasing responsibility for technical leadership, mentoring, and program‑level influence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and develop test requirements, strategies, and system architectures across the product lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with cross‑functional engineering teams to ensure alignment on test environment capabilities.
  • Design and support test systems, including models, simulations, test beds, and prototypes.
  • Lead or contribute to hardware integration, manufacturing test, and transition to production.
  • Execute and support verification and validation (V&V) of hardware using proven methodologies and tools.
  • Evaluate technology risks and system design trade‑offs to inform program decisions.
  • Support Department of Defense (DoD) programs with direct customer interaction.
  • Identify and define capital investment needs for test infrastructure.
  • Drive product affordability through cost‑conscious design, built‑in‑test capabilities, and lifecycle optimization.
  • (Senior levels) Mentor engineers and lead Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) on development programs.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
  • Experience Level Guidelines:
    • Entry: 2+ years relevant experience (or Master's in STEM).
    • Mid‑Level: 4+ years relevant experience (or Master's with 2+ years).
    • Senior/Principal:
Demonstrated advanced experience including leadership or IPT responsibilities.
  • Experience in systems engineering for test, including:
    • Test requirements development and decomposition.
    • Test planning, methodologies, and documentation.
    • Integration, verification, and validation (IV&V).
    • Embedded and functional test systems.
  • Experience across multiple phases of testing (development, environmental, qualification, production, manufacturing).
  • Knowledge of systems engineering artifacts such as block diagrams, use cases, sequence diagrams, and flow diagrams.
  • Familiarity with requirements management tools such as DOORS.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with full lifecycle test system development and transition to production.
  • Knowledge of hardware test systems and manufacturing operations.
  • Experience working on DoD programs or similar regulated environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, mentor engineers, or influence program‑level decisions (for senior candidates).
