What You’ll Do- Assess materials for conformance to specifications and conduct root‑cause failure analysis, using instrumental analysis such as spectroscopy, chromatography, and thermal analysis.
- Perform quick‑turn laboratory analysis with a multi‑disciplinary team, paying close attention to detail.
- Review energetic material data, testing, and processes at supplier sites and support on‑site programs with analytical analysis of common material problems.
- Manage and coordinate a wide variety of simultaneous tasks within set schedule requirements while spending the majority of time in the laboratory.
- Apply knowledge of energetic safety requirements.
- Be able to lift 22 lbs.
- Travel, possibly internationally, to supplier locations as required.
- University degree or equivalent experience with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with at least 3 years of experience.
- Experience with energetic materials analysis and testing, including safety evaluations.
- Proficiency in analytical chemistry and instrumental analysis (IR, chromatography, thermal analysis – e.g., FTIR, DSC, DMA, TGA, GCMS, HPLC, GPC).
- Bachelor of Science in Chemistry.
- Ability to troubleshoot analytical instruments, perform analysis, and interpret data.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, planning, teaming, and time‑management skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Experience leading and completing large‑scale, multidisciplinary, scientific projects, including failure‑analysis investigations.
- Capability to write concise technical reports summarizing analyses.
- Compensation range: $86,800 – $165,200 USD (good‑faith estimate).
