What You Will Do
- Perform and/or evaluate concept and performance trade studies, link budget analyses and demonstrate developed capabilities for data link communication applications.
- Perform hardware and software communication architecture trade studies.
- Develop, prototype, and test data link models and communication signal processing algorithms in high‑fidelity simulations and support hardware implementation.
- Test, verify, and validate communication and signal processing algorithm requirements and performance in laboratory or field test environments.
- Provide engineering support through participation in project design reviews, peer reviews, briefings to internal leadership, and external customers for all phases of development tasks.
- Design communications systems, develop data link hardware, and create algorithms for digital signal processing.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum 2 years of programming and/or simulation experience in MATLAB, SIMULINK, C/C++, or equivalent language.
- At least two of the following: communication theory, digital signal processing, probability theory, stochastic signal processing, RF and electromagnetic theory.
- Master’s degree in electrical or computer engineering with a focus in digital communications, communications systems design, data link hardware development, waveform algorithm development, or digital signal processing is preferred.
- Experience with system engineering of RF subsystems, waveform simulations (PSK, FSK, OFDM, QAM), and familiarity with common RF impairments (phase noise, multipath, Doppler).
- Knowledge of link budget and propagation modeling, RF transceiver and front‑end design tradeoffs, antenna design parameters, fixed‑point algorithm simulations for VHDL verification, wireless fading model simulation.
- Understanding of Layer2 and above network layers.
- Strong technical and interpersonal skills, ability to support enterprise initiatives, prepare documentation with minimal oversight, and design for manufacturability, producibility, and cost constraints.
- Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to identify alternate solutions to overcome difficult technical challenges.
- Onsite role located in Tucson, AZ; eligibility for relocation assistance.
- Salary range: 68,900
USD – 131,100
