Position
Materials & Process Engineering (MPE) Program Lead Engineer – Tucson, AZ (Onsite)
Security ClearanceTop Secret – U.S. government issue required before start date. U.S. citizenship required.
Primary Responsibilities- Provide MPE support for program review board meetings (CCB, MRB, PCB, ERB, PMCB).
- Ensure peer reviews are conducted and MPE positions aligned with program deliverables before report distribution.
- Manage workload to ensure support for programs and MPE team meets schedule needs.
- Lead trade studies to identify appropriate materials, properties and processes; benchmark material technologies and testing methods; document justifications for material choices.
- Ensure labor costs and completion schedules for MPE are negotiated and meet product/program commitments.
- Resolve technical and operational problems.
- Mentor and train early career engineers.
- Participate in Failure Investigation Teams providing technical support.
- Support proposal efforts that include MPE tasks.
- Present technical positions or data results to large technical audiences.
- University Degree or equivalent experience with minimum 5 years of relevant experience; or advanced degree with minimum 3 years experience.
- Experience in materials problem solving (process improvements, alternate materials, protective coatings).
- Experience with mechanical test methods (tensile, compression, lap shear, hardness, viscosity) or chemical analysis methods (FT-IR, cure rate of adhesives, DMA, TMA, GC, etc.).
- Ability to work with program gate reviews, PDM, assembly drawings, material specifications and military specifications.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Strong documentation and technical writing.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Bachelor's degree in STEM.
- At least 7 years in materials problem solving, materials characterization or production engineering.
- Competency with technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques.
- Experience in program system processes related to MRBs, PCB, risk boards, engineering review boards.
- Broad knowledge of materials science; ability to collaborate with SMEs.
Salary range: 86,800 USD – 165,200 USD.
