The Mechanical Analysis and Test (MA&T) Department is responsible for ensuring structural and thermal design robustness across the Raytheon portfolio of products. The Thermal Engineer will conduct detailed thermal analysis on products throughout their lifecycle, from initial design trade studies through qualification testing to production support. The role requires imaginative, thorough, and practical solutions that align with program objectives.

U.S. citizenship is required to obtain and maintain an active, transferable U.S. government issued security clearance (DoD Secret). The candidate must be eligible for this clearance prior to the start date.

What You Will Do
  • Perform hand calculations to determine the scope of higher detail analysis models.
  • Execute detailed thermal analyses to solve various program thermal challenges.
  • Generate test plans required to validate analyses and verify hardware compliance with customer requirements.
  • Analyze test data to validate and correlate models.
  • Collaborate with experienced analysts on moderate‑complexity problems to deliver solutions under cost and schedule constraints.
  • Review your work with peers to ensure technical accuracy.
  • Present results to internal, external, and government customers.
  • Generate detailed documentation of work and archive for future reference.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience; an advanced degree can substitute for 2 years of experience.
  • Experience performing thermal analysis with tools such as FloTHERM, PATRAN, Thermal Desktop/SINDA, ANSYS or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of mechanical principles to solve classical thermal analysis problems both inside and outside finite element tools.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
  • Capacity to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, team‑based environment.
We Prefer
  • Typically requires a STEM degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience (subject to local laws/regulations).
  • 5+ years of professional experience in thermal analysis of complex systems requiring cross‑disciplinary collaboration.
  • Experience with solid modeling CAD tools such as CREO or equivalent.
  • Experience in electronics cooling and aerodynamic heating analyses.
  • Demonstrated experience in thermal testing: planning, execution, data reduction, and model correlation.
  • Experience presenting to external customers.
  • Willingness to travel to government and other facilities in support of program activities.
  • Advanced degree in the aforementioned disciplines.
  • ABET accreditation preferred, though not required.
Benefits and Compensation

Salary range: 68,900 USD – 131,100 USD. In addition to competitive base pay, the role offers a comprehensive total rewards package that includes healthcare, wellness, retirement, and work/life benefits.
