Position Summary

Engineer II – Energetics Propulsion (Hardware Engineering Directorate, Energetics and Propulsion Department). This onsite role is responsible for the design, development and integration of solid propulsion systems, including warheads, fuzing, ignition, power systems and safety systems for missile and space vehicle programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply advanced technologies, scientific principles and theories to systems integration of propulsion, thrusters, controllers, software, mechanical and electrical interfaces.
  • Participate in development and production programs across Raytheon product lines.
  • Review manufacturing processes, resolve issues, and work directly with subcontractors on the design and manufacture of solid rocket motor propulsion systems.
  • Collaborate with program management on long‑range technical planning and act as a key spokesperson on program capabilities and future directions.
  • Manage propulsion system development projects and subcontracts; review and disposition subcontract data and change requests; oversee supplier operations.
  • Develop and deliver technical presentations to management and government agencies.
  • Interface regularly with customers to identify user needs and support new business opportunities.
Security Clearance

Active, transferable U.S. government‑issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required; only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and two (2) years of relevant experience; or an advanced degree.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in the development of solid propulsion systems from conceptual design through final test and assembly.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance before the start date.
  • U.S. citizenship.
Desired Qualifications
  • Advanced degree.
  • Four (4) or more years of directly related experience in propulsive technology, including solid, liquid or mono‑propellant systems.
  • Systems engineering knowledge for full development of propulsion requirements and flow-down to subcomponents.
  • Project engineering experience using Earned Value Management systems.
  • Demonstrated success as a proposal/cost‑account manager and project/team leader.
  • Ability to lead collaborative efforts with structural, thermal, aerodynamics and low‑observable disciplines.
  • Willingness to travel, including internationally, to support suppliers.
  • Experience generating specifications and statements of work (SOW) for supplier collaboration and oversight.
  • Working knowledge or experience with missile design, production support, or integration.
  • Experience with DoD customers or contractor executives.
  • Active Secret or Top Secret Defense clearance.
