Overview
Location:
Tucson, AZ ( onsite ). Role:
Sr. Energetic Material Chemist in Materials & Process Engineering. Security clearance requirements:
Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Interim clearance may be required prior to start date.
- Assess materials based on conformance to specifications or conduct root cause failure analysis, leveraging instrumental analysis including spectroscopy, chromatography and thermal analysis.
- Perform quick-turn analyses with a multi-discipline team, with careful attention to detail and tolerance for repetitive work.
- Review energetic material data, testing, processes, and obsolescence while also performing analytical analysis of common materials problems onsite.
- Manage and coordinate a wide variety of simultaneous tasks within schedule requirements, spending substantial time in the laboratory.
- Work with energetic safety requirements and lift up to 22 lbs as needed.
- Travel to supplier locations may be required, potentially including international travel.
- You Must Have
:
Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience with minimum 5 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree with minimum 3 years of related experience. - Experience with energetic materials specific analysis and testing, including safety evaluations.
- Experience in Analytical Chemistry and Instrumental Analysis (IR spectroscopy, Chromatography, Thermal Analysis such as FTIR, DSC, DMA, TGA, GCMS, HPLC, GPC, etc.).
- Bachelor of Science in Chemistry.
- Ability to troubleshoot analytical instrument problems, perform analyses, and interpret data.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, planning, teamwork, and time management skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others, and to lead and complete large-scale, multi-disciplinary projects including failure analyses.
- Ability to write concise technical reports summarizing analyses.
