What You Will Do

As a Mechanical Design Engineer in the Precision Control Actuation System (PCAS) department, you will work autonomously to deliver expert-level design, testing, and support for harnessing systems used in tactical missile Integrated Product Teams. Your responsibilities include detailed mechanical design, test design and execution, systems engineering, proposal drafting, estimate development, and earned‑value management. You will flex responsibilities based on current organizational needs and may coach and review the work of other professionals.

Gain hands‑on experience with hardware builds, integration, and verification. Work with engineering fellows to accelerate technical growth and access subject‑matter experts across the organization.

Qualifications – Required
  • Minimum 8 years of engineering experience in the design and/or modification of harness and/or interconnect devices.
  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or an advanced degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5.
  • Experience with Pro/Engineer/CREO 3D modeling and mechanical drawing generation.
  • Ability to deconstruct high‑level tasks into discrete work packages and manage technical data packages.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills across the product lifecycle—including proposal, design, manufacture, integration, and test.
Qualifications – Preferred
  • Experience engineering complex systems of devices and interconnects.
  • Development of harnessing requirements, system architecture, risk, verification, validation, performance, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Knowledge of industry/military standards and specifications.
  • First‑order electrical analysis (e.g., DC resistance, voltage drop).
  • Derivation of technical requirements from higher‑level specifications.
  • Hands‑on expertise with round wire, RF, and/or rigid‑flex harnesses.
  • Design of harnesses with mixed signals, differential signals, shielding for EMI/RFI, and crosstalk mitigation.
  • Familiarity with ECAD, PCB design, signal integrity, copper weight calculations, adhesives, dielectrics, coverlays, stiffeners, and thermal management.
  • Experience with Creo Schematic, Mentor Capital, or other electrical system documentation software.
  • Problem‑solving tight‑space and dynamic movement constraints (bonus).
  • Design and manufacturing knowledge in machined parts, injection molded parts, and wire harnesses/flex harnesses.
