Summary

Raytheon’s Air Launched Effector Guidance Systems (ALEGS) Department is responsible for the delivery of affordable and innovative electrical products. The ALEGS Department is hiring a Principal Electrical Engineer – Production Hardware in Tucson, AZ to drive program execution, including cost, schedule, and technical oversight throughout the product lifecycle. The role includes providing resources to drive development and sustainment activities of airborne electrical products and collaborating with multi‑disciplined teams while maintaining a healthy work‑life balance.

What

You Will Do
  • Enhance electrical engineering skills working with digital, analog and/or RF hardware testing and debugging complex circuit card assemblies or electro‑mechanical systems. Prior hands‑on troubleshooting experience is preferred.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and other Engineering disciplines to achieve/document concurrence and resolve issues that may arise during production, testing, and integration.
  • Travel requirements: less than 10% annually.
  • Shift: 2nd shift (3 pm – 12 am).
What You Will Learn
  • Knowledge of various electrical components, Circuit Card Assemblies, RF, analog, digital and/or mixed‑signal circuit design or analysis.
  • Achievement of the RTX Core Certification and completion of Raytheon Responsible Engineer Authority (REA) Training.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related STEM field and a minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience with RF, analog, digital and/or mixed‑signal circuit design or analysis and/or digital signal processing.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment including waveform generators, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and/or network analyzers.
  • Experience leading technical projects, failure investigations, or issue resolution efforts.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience in Root‑Cause Corrective Action investigations.
  • Experience performing electrical engineering design of CCA, EO, RF, Seeker/Sensor, or electronic sub‑systems; including circuit design, CCA assembly, electrical test, production/supplier/sub‑tier supplier support of test equipment, test automation scripting, test conduction, sensor control, printed circuit board fabrication, circuit card assembly processes, and related industry specifications.
  • Experience with tools such as Mentor Graphics Designer, PSPICE, System Vision, MATLAB, Mathcad, IDL, CST, Microwave Design Studio, HFSS, ADS, signal generators, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Familiarity with missile communication transceivers, data links, inertial measurement units (IMU), and Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver subsystems.
  • Experience with subsystems integration and test, post‑flight analysis, problem investigation, Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods to achieve production yield improvements, technical writing, formal presentation, and implementing Engineering Change Notices.
  • Self‑starter capable of working independently as well as with a small technical team; providing technical oversight and direction, cost estimation, tracking & reporting, coordination, preparation of detailed technical team reports, and proposal support.
