Principal Electrical Component Engineer
Raytheon is seeking a Principal Electrical Component Engineer to join the Parts, Libraries and Obsolescence (PLO) Department in Tucson, AZ. The role is onsite and requires a U.S. citizen with a DoD Secret clearance and the ability to obtain a security clearance.
What You Will Do- Understand program requirements and statements of work to determine program component environmental and characteristic application requirements.
- Provide technology insertion and parts selection/standardization guidance while adhering to business, component parametric, application environmental, and circuit application constraints.
- Generate and revise component drawings and associated verification data packages.
- Review electronic component and assembly reliability and construction data, and prepare such data to facilitate Part and Material Control Board review and adjudication.
- Perform alternate part investigations and generate comparison matrices showing the differences and similarities of the parts.
- Interface with multiple internal stakeholders and external suppliers/manufacturers to develop component risk and verification delineation.
- Facilitate component selection and libraries application through the coordination and generation of the program Bill of Material (BOM) in a collaboration toolset.
- Present component standardization, design library, obsolescence management and termination finish risk results in support of design reviews for a program.
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in electronic or electro‑mechanical parts, BOM development, and component selection for military or aerospace flight applications.
- Experience with integrated circuits, semiconductors, passive devices, and other electronic commodities.
- Knowledge of component selection, screening, qualification, and derating for military and aerospace applications.
- Knowledge of MIL drawings, standards, test specifications, QPLs, and QMLs.
- Experience with BOM development and management for developmental and production programs.
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with project or task management.
- Knowledge of component failure modes by commodity.
- Experience with root cause corrective action (RCCA).
- Knowledge of component reliability process monitors and/or qualification methodologies.
- Knowledge of circuit card and PWB manufacturing processes.
- Experience with RF components and interconnect devices.
- Experience with commercial off‑the‑shelf (COTS) products in a military system.
Competitive salary range of $107,500–$204,500.
