Operations Manager, Civil Engineering
Job Summary:
In this role, you will monitor and organize subcontractor planning, safety, quality, and technical activities on a complex project with multiple stakeholders’ involvement, through the coordination and instruction of subcontractor’s management staff. Your field supervision will help ensure operations are planned to coincide with overall established schedules and that work methods are planned and executed safely.
Major Responsibilities:- Monitors and organizes subcontractor activities, through coordination and instruction of subcontractor’s management staff within the area of responsibility.
- Supports mid‑size projects of medium to high complexity with multiple stakeholders’ involvement.
- Monitors subcontractor construction schedules, resource charts, and material and equipment requirements.
- Reviews subcontractor construction methods, schedules, manning charts, and material and equipment requirements.
- Coordinates construction operations impact on external interfaces to ensure they coincide with the overall established schedules.
- Monitors installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings, specifications, vendor, and other requirements.
- Enforces policies, procedures and related work rules as established by field construction management.
- Supports Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents.
- Coordinates engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals.
- Coordinates with Design on constructability issues.
- Requires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 8‑10 years of relevant experience or 12‑14 years of relevant work experience.
- Experience in semiconductor, EV battery, data centers, or Pharmaceuticals preferred.
- Hands‑on implementation of AWP and OSM strategies; experience with project setup, system turnover, and completion preferred.
- Proficiency with digital execution tools, 4D/5D planning, and analytics preferred.
Skills:
- Owns safe, high‑quality piping execution—expert knowledge of piping installation, welding, NDE, hydrotesting, flushing, reinstatement, and turnover, with strict adherence to specs and codes.
- Drives piping work using AWP—plans by system and test boundary, manages constraints, sequences supports → install → weld → test → reinstate, and protects system completions.
- Leads piping craft and subcontractors—sets production targets, enforces standards, resolves field issues quickly, and develops foremen and general foremen.
- Controls productivity and rework—understands weld rates, spool readiness, material flow, and fit‑up quality; attacks bottlenecks before they hit schedule or cost.
- Integrates across disciplines—coordinates with structural, mechanical, electrical, and commissioning to avoid clashes, enable access, and support clean turnover.
