HDR Engineering is seeking multiple Transmission Line Engineering Managers to join our growing Power Delivery team.
Primary Responsibilities
As a Transmission Line Engineering Manager (EM) in a well-established Power Delivery practice, you will use your broad technical knowledge and experience in design and construction of high voltage Transmission Line projects to lead, guide, and advise clients, projects, and teams. You should have previously performed a leading technical role on complex transmission line projects and be prepared for greater challenges and responsibilities.
- Leverage technical experience to manage and execute the engineering and design components of transmission projects.
- Develop and implement a project execution plan for the technical aspect of transmission projects.
- Work independently and/or direct, mentor, train, and/or supervise one or more Project Engineers, EITs, Designers, CADD technicians and administrative staff.
- Perform Project Management duties as needed, including scope, schedule, budget, proposal development, work breakdown structure, progress assessment, risk assessment/mitigation, change management, and schedule management.
- Coordinate and/or lead the QA/QC process on projects per HDR’s Quality Management Systems requirements with a commitment to delivering world-class quality.
- Perform quality checks and/or reviews of projects from other teams as needed.
- Participate in project reviews as needed.
- At times, lead multiple projects concurrently, utilizing teams in different locations.
- Work with senior engineers and technical leaders to identify and develop specific technical expertise and attend training and seminars focused on transmission concepts.
At times, assist with development of technical papers and/or presentations that showcase HDR’s capabilities at industry conferences or events.
Preferred Qualifications
- Construction and/or field experience in transmission is a plus.
- Track record of working cooperatively with diverse teams; regional, department, and technical managers; and project staff is preferred.
- Experience working with Renewables developers and/or interconnection of Renewables is a plus.
- Transmission line design experience using PLS-CADD, steel and wood transmission structures, foundation design, material procurement, specifications, and construction support.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- A minimum of 10 years of experience
Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example:
Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
- Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software (examples include PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Auto Pipe, and Revit)
