Job Description
This role focuses on leading the mechanical design, development, and production of critical defense hardware systems. The Mechanical Engineer will use strong technical expertise in mechanical hardware design, 3D modeling, and system integration to support the full product lifecycle, from concept through production support. The position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet performance, manufacturability, and reliability requirements while maintaining high-quality technical documentation.
Responsibilities
+ Lead the mechanical design and development of hardware systems and components using CREO (Creo Parametric).
+ Support the complete product lifecycle, including concept development, detailed design, integration, testing, and production support.
+ Develop and maintain accurate 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, systems, manufacturing, and quality engineering, to ensure successful system integration.
+ Perform production troubleshooting and lead root cause analysis for hardware issues that arise during manufacturing or testing.
+ Ensure all mechanical designs meet performance, manufacturability, reliability, and quality requirements.
+ Participate in and contribute to design reviews, providing clear technical input and recommendations.
+ Maintain thorough and up-to-date technical documentation throughout the design and development process.
Essential Skills
+ Proven experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on hardware design and development.
+ Proficiency in CREO (Creo Parametric) for 3D CAD modeling and mechanical design.
+ Strong ability to create and manage 3D CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings.
+ Knowledge and practical application of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
+ Experience supporting the full product lifecycle, including concept, design, integration, testing, and production support.
+ Demonstrated capability in system integration and collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams.
+ Ability to perform production troubleshooting and conduct root cause analysis for hardware issues.
+ Strong attention to detail to ensure designs meet performance, manufacturability, and reliability requirements.
+ Effective communication skills to participate in design reviews and maintain clear technical documentation.

+ Background in mechanical hardware design for complex or mission-critical systems.
+ Experience working closely with electrical, systems, manufacturing, and quality engineering teams.
+ Familiarity with structured design review processes and configuration control of technical documentation.
Work Environment
The role is based in an engineering-focused environment dedicated to the design, development, and production of critical defense hardware systems. You will work with modern CAD tools, including CREO (Creo Parametric), and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams such as electrical, systems, manufacturing, and quality engineering. The work involves a mix of office-based design activities and interaction with production and test environments to support integration, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
The setting emphasizes precision, documentation quality, and adherence to engineering standards, with a professional dress code appropriate for an engineering and production facility.

This is a Contract position based out of Tucson, AZ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $90.00/hr.
