Job located at US-AZ-TUCSON-M02 ~ 1151 E Hermans Rd ~ BLDG M02. Position:
Onsite Mechanical Design Engineer in the Shipboard Effectors Department of Raytheon Technologies. Security clearance: U.S. citizenship required;
DoD Secret clearance (interim required prior to start) necessary.
- Utilize strong mechanical hardware design experience with ruggedized structures, interconnects, cooling, and electronics integration.
- Support all phases of programs from capture and concept development through production.
- Develop technical solutions for complex problems across the product life cycle including proposal, design, manufacture, integration, and test of electronics for multiple military programs.
- Supervise definitions of mechanical outline and construction details, component selection and specification, mechanical and assembly drawings, electrical/RF layout, and deliver the final technical data package.
- Employ transition‑to‑production practices and lead a design release into production.
- Track, report, and meet cost, schedule, quality, and performance requirements for the finished product, including Earned Value (EV) management and Estimate at Complete (EAC) inputs.
- Prepare proposal inputs on behalf of the product area.
- Provide technical conscience to ensure product and process meet appropriate standards while removing roadblocks.
- Work with minimal direction or supervision, exercising considerable latitude in determining technical objectives while meeting cost, schedule, quality, and performance requirements.
- Lead a small team of mechanical engineers when required.
- Interact frequently with senior personnel and occasionally external customers on significant technical matters requiring coordination between organizations.
- Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
- Minimum eight years of experience in the design of electronics packaging for military, aerospace, or commercial applications.
- Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerances).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance prior to start; U.S. citizenship required.
- Experience with ANSI drawing standards and structural analysis techniques.
- Experience with design to military standards.
- Strong technical background with high technical aptitude.
- Leadership skills with project management and subcontract management experience.
- Experience with CREO (Pro/E) or similar 3D solid modeling software.
- Knowledge of machine suppliers’ capabilities or manufacturing/assembly support experience for producibility.
- Familiarity with the design and manufacturing processes of CCAs, mechanical/RF components, metal housings, structures, and electronics assemblies.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Advanced degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Salary range: 107,500 USD – 204,500 USD (good‑faith estimate representing all experience levels).
- Relocation eligible.
