Position: Principal Support Engineer – Environmental Testing (Second Shift)

Location: Tucson, AZ

Shift: Second shift; works nights

Environmental Test (ET) is an engineering organization that supports all programs across Raytheon, providing testing capability for every phase of the product life cycle from prototype to production.

As a Principal Support Engineer you will execute a variety of environmental tests while collaborating within an integrated product team with Test Engineers, other Support Engineers, and internal engineering customers. You will be responsible for test setup, equipment control and monitoring, data collection and verification, and troubleshooting of both test equipment and setup when technical issues arise.

Active U.S. government issued DoD Secret clearance prior to start date is required. U.S. citizenship is required because only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

• Perform setup and operation of mechanical shock test and electrodynamic vibration test systems.
• Perform setup and operation of climatic environmental chambers in support of testing for temperature, altitude, and humidity as well as highly accelerated life tests.
• Set up and program all control and data acquisition systems and manage instrumentation, signal conditioning, and data acquisition.
• Execute various vibration test methods including random, sine, shock, sine‑on‑random, random‑on‑random, and drop shock as defined in Mil‑Std‑810.
• Collect and verify thermal, vibration, and shock test data for accuracy.

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience with environmental test vibration shaker systems or instrumentation (accelerometers, thermocouples, strain gauges, load cells, etc.) and data acquisition systems (Dewetron, Dewe Soft, Lab View, Agilent/Keysight, Benchlink, Somat, etc.).

• Strong problem‑solving skills.
• Strong communication skills—including effective written, verbal, and listening.
• High situational awareness and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Current DoD Secret or TS/SSBI clearance.

• Competitive compensation with a salary range of USD 86,800 – 165,200.
