Senior Project Manager – Transmission Routing and Siting

Location:

United States – Sacramento, California (additional locations:
Phoenix, Arizona;
Riverside, Walnut Creek, Claremont, Long Beach, Folsom, Los Angeles, Tucson, Utah – Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, San Diego, Albuquerque, Irvine). The role is full‑time and regular.

What You Will Do
  • Develop buildable routing and siting solutions for utility and developer infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with project teams, including utility and developer staff and consultants.
  • Engage stakeholders such as government agencies, regulators, communities and landowners.
  • Prepare testimony and technical documentation, including studies for defensible line route and facility site selection.
  • Plan and monitor project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Mentor and support newer staff to produce client deliverables.
  • Build key relationships with HDR and utility staff.
  • Strategic thinking, networking, client relations and lead development.
  • Travel average 10‑20% of the time.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Ideal Candidate
  • 10+ years of experience in linear projects involving land acquisition, routing or environmental planning.
  • 8+ years of experience writing proposals, developing scopes of work, budgets and schedules for complex environmental projects.
  • Experience preparing applications for state utility regulatory agencies and system operators.
  • Experience providing expert witness testimony (desired).
  • Strong conceptual, organizational, analytical, problem‑solving and research abilities.
  • Ability to support multiple complex and time‑sensitive projects effectively.
  • Strong communication and client service orientation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental planning, environmental science, community planning, engineering, landscape architecture or related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to write proposals, develop scopes, budgets and schedules for multi‑disciplinary teams and multi‑agency efforts.
  • Knowledge of permit requirements.
  • Experience supporting design and construction teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software, and project management software.
  • Excellent organizational, project management and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Commitment to participating actively in an employee‑owned culture.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 10 years of related experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience.
  • Excellent organizational, project management and communication skills.
  • Must be able to interact with various design teams.
  • Commitment to building a collaborative culture.
Compensation

California locations: $137,445 – $223,125. Nevada locations: $124,950 – $178,500. Compensation is based on skills, experience, education and geographic location.
