Job DescriptionJoin our team as an Instrumentation & Process Control Coordinator I and play a key role in keeping our wastewater treatment facilities operating safely, efficiently, and reliably.
In this hands-on position, you will install, maintain, and troubleshoot instrumentation, PLCs, analyzers, and process control equipment that are critical to plant operations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, working with advanced automation systems, and making a direct impact on environmental stewardship and public health.
Essential Functions- Installs, calibrates, maintains, and repairs electronic instruments, sensors, flow meters, pressure transducers, and other field devices.
- Maintains and troubleshoots PLCs, HMIs, and automated process control systems to ensure seamless operation.
- Conducts diagnostics and data analysis to identify trends, optimize performance, and troubleshoot system inefficiencies.
- Maintains communication networks, including radio and wireless systems, for remote process monitoring and control.
- Develops and executes preventative and predictive maintenance programs for process control equipment and instrumentation.
- Ensures compliance with safety protocols, operational standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintains detailed records of maintenance activities, configurations, and system modifications.
- Collaborates with engineers, operators, and technicians to support system upgrades and process improvements.
Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university in electronics technology, instrumentation, and process control, or a related field, AND two years of experience in the installation, calibration, and maintenance of field instrumentation equipment and/or process control loops.

One year of experience with Pima County in an Instrumentation Process Control Specialist or closely related position, performing repair, maintenance, installation, operation, or calibration of electronic instrumentation or industrial/laboratory process controls and instrumentation, and working knowledge of PLC operation, networking, and troubleshooting.
Preferred Qualifications- Minimum one year experience with industrial instrumentation and process control, preferably in wastewater treatment, industrial automation, or a similar environment.
- Minimum one year experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electronic instrumentation, sensors, transmitters, and automated control systems.
- Experience with/knowledge of flowmeters, pressure meters, chemical analyzers, liquid level sensors, motor-operated valves, and/or turbidity meters.
- Experience with/knowledge of sensor calibration, process optimization, and regulatory compliance.
- Minimum one year experience reading panel drawings, electrical schematics, and P&.
- Minimum one year experience with radio frequency or microwave telemetry networks.
- Valid driver license required at time of application.
- Valid AZ driver license required at time of appointment.
- Successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review.
All positions require sufficient body flexibility, mobility, stamina, and balance to allow for standing, walking, sitting, grasping and manipulation of objects, frequent bending, stooping, reaching, climbing stairs, and ladders. All positions require regular or occasional crawling, kneeling, squatting, lifting/carrying objects up to fifty pounds, pushing and pulling of objects up to seventy-five pounds, and the ability to properly don and doff fall protection to enter and work in confined spaces.
