Senior System Safety Engineer - Tucson, AZ

Position for senior system safety engineer.

As a Senior System Safety Engineer you will lead or participate in:

• Leading one or more MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs.
• Performing MIL-STD-882E system safety program tasks and analyses, or customer-approved equivalents.
• Coordinating with customer safety representatives to obtain safety approval from Safety Review Board authorities.
• Working across integrated product teams and lines to eliminate hazards or provide effective controls.
• Collaborating with program management and government approval authorities from program startup through production to demilitarization and disposal.

• Perform system safety program, hazard, or design analyses.
• Brief safety of the program at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process.
• Interpret system requirements, customer specifications, and military standards.
• Prepare internal and customer reports describing relevant analyses for the system safety program.
• Collaborate across multiple disciplines to understand product architecture and design.

• Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in system safety engineering with software, firmware, or electrical engineering.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government secret security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

• Experience in weapon combat systems.
• Experience with DoD system safety programs.
• Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and proposal development.
• Experience solving complex problems by leveraging available resources and research material.
• Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Interpersonal and project management skills, with ability to manage a safety program and provide direction to supporting safety personnel.
• Master’s degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM).

• Competitive salary range: $86,800 - $165,200.
