Senior System Safety Engineer - Tucson, AZ
Position for senior system safety engineer.
What You Will DoAs a Senior System Safety Engineer you will lead or participate in:
- Leading one or more MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs.
- Performing MIL-STD-882E system safety program tasks and analyses, or customer-approved equivalents.
- Coordinating with customer safety representatives to obtain safety approval from Safety Review Board authorities.
- Working across integrated product teams and lines to eliminate hazards or provide effective controls.
- Collaborating with program management and government approval authorities from program startup through production to demilitarization and disposal.
- Perform system safety program, hazard, or design analyses.
- Brief safety of the program at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process.
- Interpret system requirements, customer specifications, and military standards.
- Prepare internal and customer reports describing relevant analyses for the system safety program.
- Collaborate across multiple disciplines to understand product architecture and design.
- Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in system safety engineering with software, firmware, or electrical engineering.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government secret security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
- Experience in weapon combat systems.
- Experience with DoD system safety programs.
- Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and proposal development.
- Experience solving complex problems by leveraging available resources and research material.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Interpersonal and project management skills, with ability to manage a safety program and provide direction to supporting safety personnel.
- Master’s degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM).
- Competitive salary range: $86,800 - $165,200.
