Job Summary:hydroGEOPHYSICS (HGI) is a geophysical services company that provides state-of-the-art solutions to customers in mining, nuclear, engineering, and environmental industries. HGI is expanding its Tucson office and is seeking a full‑time Staff Geophysicist, Geoscientist, Hydrologist, or Engineer. This entry‑level or minimal‑experience position supports scientists and engineers with data collection, analysis, and report writing, and assists in processing, modeling, visualizing earth science and geophysical data, including GPS and surveying integration for daily or project tasks.
Job Responsibilities / Duties:- Work outdoors across uneven terrain while carrying heavy equipment (50+ lbs).
- Operate independently and as part of a team.
- Problem‑solve, make temporary in‑field repairs, and adapt to changing conditions.
- Load and unload equipment for field projects and transport vehicles and gear to and from sites.
- Set up, tear down, and maintain field monitoring equipment.
- Provide other field support as directed by the project lead.
- Field projects range from two days to two months and require extensive regional, national, and global travel to remote locations with limited communications and extreme environmental conditions.
- Organize and maintain field equipment in accordance with company procedures.
- Provide general office support when not in the field.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Geophysics, Geosciences, Geology, Earth Science, or related engineering discipline with 2-4 years of applied experience, or a Master’s degree with little to no experience.
- Degree coursework must include advanced mathematics and physics; a transcript is required.
- Ability to flourish with minimal guidance, be proactive, and handle uncertainty.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational and detail orientation.
- Schedule flexibility; priorities can change rapidly in a service‑based environment.
- Willingness to travel nationally and internationally up to 70% of the time; field projects may last 2 days to 2 months.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- A current passport or ability to secure one within 90 days of hire.
- Proof of U.S. citizenship (required for government contracts).
- Enjoy working independently or with a team.
- Proficiency with internet research, email, MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.), and strong writing and editing skills.
- Prior experience with geophysical fieldwork, environmental sampling/logging, or laboratory instrumentation.
- Proficiency in electrical, seismic, and electromagnetic methods.
- Professional Geophysicist (PGP), Professional Geologist (PG), Certified Hydrogeologist (CHG), or willingness to pursue a PGP license.
- Bilingual English/Spanish speaking skills.
- Experience driving a vehicle/trailer combination.
- MSHA/OSHA/Hazwoper training.
