Senior Mechanical Engineer What You Will Do

• Design, develop, build, and test structural components, systems, and products
• Source, select, and qualify components used with the company’s technology
• Investigate alternate component technologies or supplies, reducing cost and improving quality and reliability.
• Act as technical interface between component/production suppliers and development engineers, determining new and alternate sources
• Investigate alternate component technologies or supplies for reduced cost or improved quality and reliability, and implement changes
• Will be involved in all design phases: R&D, POC, Prototype, Pre-production, Production
• Manage designs, BOM, documentation, approving build processes, and supporting quality and cost engineering
• Hands‑on integration and collaboration with multiple disciplines electrical, and other engineering disciplines
• Maintain and update product functional specifications
• Work closely with Procurement, Manufacturing, Quality, and other Engineering Teams

• Location:
  • Ability to work at TuSimple’s Tucson Facility is required for this role.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% to our San Diego Headquarters.
• Education: At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

• At least 7 years of directly related experience needed for this level.
• Deep experience with 3D design and PLM tools, CATIA 3DX or CATIA V5, design release and a strong product lifecycle management
• Experience with a variety of structural elements and systems
• Experience designing and analyzing structures
• System level understanding and whole picture approach to development.
• Advanced understanding of the manufacturing mechanical systems within the auto industry.
• Ability and desire to work in a collaborative environment and fast‑growing R&D team

• Autonomous Vehicle (AV) Industry experience is highly preferred.
