Overview
This position will offer a qualified candidate the opportunity to solve engineering problems by performing chemical analysis on various materials (adhesives, polymers, tapes, composites, metals, and other production materials). Tasks require quick turnaround analysis in a laboratory setting, with a focus on precision and repeatability.
What You Will DoThe primary responsibilities include assessing materials for conformance to specifications, or conducting root‑cause failure analysis using instrumental techniques such as spectroscopy, chromatography, and thermal analysis. Collaboration with engineers, subject‑matter experts, and suppliers is essential. Candidates must manage multiple simultaneous tasks within set schedules while spending most of the time in the laboratory.
QualificationsYou must have a Master’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry, Forensic Science, or a related field.
Experience with analytical chemistry and instrumental analysis, including infrared spectroscopy, chromatography, and thermal analysis (FTIR, DSC, DMA, TGA, GCMS, HPLC, GPC, etc.).
Active, transferable U.S. government‑issued security clearance (Secret) is required prior to start date.
- Experience in material science and polymer science, with knowledge of material testing/analysis
- Experience with material safety data sheets and large‑scale science‑based projects
- Experience writing concise technical reports summarizing analyses
- Experience troubleshooting analytical instrument problems, performing analysis, and interpreting data
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Must be able to lift 22 lbs. (10 kg) repeatedly.
What We OfferSalary range: $68,900 – $131,100 USD. Eligible for benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short‑term and long‑term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, and paid time off. Additional annual incentive programs may apply as appropriate to the role.
