Position: NDE Level I Technician (7:00am-4:30pm)

This position will require access to ITAR and/or EAR controlled technical data, technology or source code. All individuals in this role must be authorized to access such information.

General Description

The Quality Assurance, Level I NDE Technician reports to the Quality Assurance Supervisor. The role involves performing functions and methods that require certifications.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform RT and/or UT NDE inspections
  • Monitor material and supplies
  • Maintain equipment calibrations and maintenance cycles
  • Support development of inspection techniques
  • Support production operations
Education and Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Visual acuity – Jaeger 1 or equivalent and 20/40 minimum vision, corrected or uncorrected
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in NDE of aerospace hardware, specifically composites, rubber, and bonded structures (preferred)
  • Prior certification to Level I in an NDE method, including objective evidence of 40-hour classroom training
  • Successful completion of the Level I examination for RT and/or Level I examination for UT in accordance with RQC 0526 (NAS 410), administered by REDAR Principal Level 3
Special Tasks and Focus Areas
  • Perform RT and/or UT examinations on REDAR manufactured and procured product
    • Perform NDE system self-audits
    • Monitor flow and traceability of product submitted to the department
    • Other duties as required
  • Monitor material and supplies
    • Monitor inspection consumables inventories
    • Order materials and supplies
  • Maintain equipment calibration and maintenance cycles
    • Perform system checks and calibrations of inspection equipment
    • Support service and maintenance of equipment
    • Assist in maintaining radiation monitoring and other required systems
  • Support development of inspection techniques
    • Evaluate new jobs and programs and assist in technique development with REDAR Level III or Principal NDE Level III
  • Support production operations
    • Perform standard visual and dimensional inspections when applicable
    • Interface with production personnel to ensure complete and accurate NDE inspections are performed and documented
    • Support Cause and Corrective Action (CCA) investigations
    • Other duties as required
