Location:
US-AZ-TUCSON-M07, 3292 E Hemisphere Loop, BLDG M07. This onsite Principal Engineer - Solid Propulsion role is based in Tucson, AZ. U.S. security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required for eligibility for a security clearance.

Responsibilities- Apply or develop highly advanced technologies and principles to the systems integration of propulsion, thrusters, controllers, software, mechanical and electrical interfaces for missile systems and space vehicles.
- Engage in development and production programs across Raytheon Product Lines; review manufacturing processes and resolve problems, working with subcontractors on solid rocket motor propulsion systems.
- Collaborate with program management on long-range planning and serve as a key technical spokesperson for program capabilities and future directions.
- Manage propulsion system development projects and propulsion subcontracts; review subcontract data and change requests; oversee supplier operations.
- Develop and deliver technical presentations to management and government agencies; interface with customers to identify user needs.
- Identify and help secure new business opportunities; independently resolve issues in the development and implementation of operational missile programs.
- Role is based in Tucson, AZ and onsite.
What you must have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or 10+ years without a degree. An advanced degree may substitute for additional experience.
- Experience in development of solid propulsion systems.
What we prefer:
- 12+ years of directly related experience in propulsive technology for solid, liquid, or mono-propellant propulsion systems.
- Prior Patriot Missile experience.
- Systems knowledge to ensure full development of propulsion requirements to subcomponents.
- Project engineering skills with Earned Value Management System (EVMS).
- Experience as a proposal/cost account manager and as a project/team leader.
- Ability to lead collaborative efforts with structural, thermal, aerodynamics and low observable disciplines.
- Willingness to travel, including internationally, to provide supplier support.
- Supplier collaboration experience, generating specifications and statements of work (SOW).
- Working knowledge of missile design or development, production support and integration.
- Experience with DoD customers and/or executive leadership.

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD, with a good faith range dependent on experience, location, and other factors. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending, parental leave, PTO, holidays) and incentive programs where applicable. Benefits vary by business unit and bargaining agreement status.
