Position Summary
Senior Navigation/IMU Engineer, 100% onsite, Tucson, Arizona. The role requires U.S. citizenship and a current DoD Secret clearance (interim clearance required prior to start).
Responsibilities- Support programs with IMU selection, integration, and testing.
- Analyze IMU performance data and produce test plans.
- Interface with IMU suppliers and document requirements.
- Conduct peer reviews of design solutions as a subject‑matter expert.
- Prepare presentations for peers, management, and government customers.
- Investigate root‑cause failures and recommend corrective actions.
- Work independently with minimal supervision within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment.
- Travel as needed, including foreign travel.
- Participate in mentoring activities, both as mentor and mentee.
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and at least eight (8) years of relevant experience.
- Advanced degrees:
Master’s equates to two years of experience;
Ph.D. equates to four years of experience. - Strong background in electrical engineering fundamentals, subsystems, and systems engineering.
- Experience selecting and integrating IMUs into navigation subsystems.
- Knowledge of serial interfaces, hardware integration, and testing.
- Proficiency with fiber‑optic gyros, ring‑laser gyros, and MEMS gyros.
- Experience with mechanical and solid‑state accelerometers.
- Background in missile systems, guidance and navigation computers, seekers, and sensors.
- Experience driving suppliers to meet commitments and familiarity with the DoD hardware development process (design gates).
- Practical experience in all phases of the product life cycle.
- Experience with systems engineering and architecture for missile or similar systems.
- A desire to grow into a guidance section architect role.
- Knowledge of engineering design gates and the DoD development process.
- Competitive salary ranging from $107,500 to $204,500.
