Principal Telemetry And Flight Termination Systems Engineer

Raytheon's Hardware Electrical Engineering Team is looking for experienced engineers who have electronics knowledge to support the design and test of electronic products and systems. Our bread and butter are all things "circuit cards", and we want you to help us blaze the path!

We're growing fast and we want you to grow with us! We're expanding our engineering organization dramatically to meet exciting customer demand, and we're actively looking for engineers who bring strong foundational skills and a passion for solving hard problems. Industry experience in defense? Not required — we'll invest in you. If you meet the minimum qualifications, we want to talk.

Apply today and take the next step in your engineering career.

Raytheon's Effector Analog & Power (EAP) Team is seeking a Principal Telemetry (TM) and Flight Termination Systems (FTS) Engineer to provide technical leadership, develop advanced system architectures, and drive execution for Telemetry (TM) and Flight Termination Systems (FTS).

The Effector Power Department is responsible for the development, from concept to integration, of Telemetry and Flight Termination products; power systems from all up round to the lowest level power regulation; servo electronics supporting all mechanical motion in our products and low noise mixed signal electronics that provides the analog to digital interface to our front-end sensors. Each of these products generally operate in lower power and voltage ranges less than 10kW and 1000V.

The TM/FTS team develops system designs focused on supporting effector flight tests. We adhere to rigorous standards from the Range Commanders Council, Federal Communications Commission, and the National Security Agency in the design and utilization of our products.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead system and circuit-level architecture design activities for TM and FTS subsystems.
  • Serve as the Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) for complex TM and FTS designs.
  • Drive full lifecycle development of PCBA-level designs, from requirements definition through integration and qualification.
  • Lead technical reviews, failure investigations, supplier engagements, and cross-functional task teams.
  • Oversee or perform analog and mixed-signal circuit design, analysis, simulation, testing, and documentation.
  • Independently generate the engineering artifacts required to demonstrate compliance with program, performance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and shape team-level engineering best practices.

Qualifications you must have:

  • Require's a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Advanced degree in STEM and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with electronics design at the system and/or subsystem level.
  • Experience generating and/or utilizing electrical design specifications.
  • Deep experience with analog and mixed-signal circuit design (FET/BJT circuits, op-amps, filters, A/D converters, level shifting, termination, comparators, load switches, etc.).
  • Experience with analysis tools (MATLAB, MathCAD, Mathematica, or similar).

Qualifications we prefer:

  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience working with and applying government regulations relevant to TM/FTS, such as RCC, FCC, NSA, or related compliance frameworks.
  • Experience with component-level qualification, including radiation, temperature, vibration, and environmental stress conditions.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams (systems, RF, firmware, mechanical, test, suppliers).
  • Extensive experience with:
    • Mixed-signal PCB design
    • RF/antenna interfaces
    • RF transmitters and receivers
    • ECAD workflows and layout/routing constraints relevant to TM/FTS
  • Experience with electronics laboratory diagnosis and testing.
  • Experience with:
    • Microcontroller, FPGA, and digital interface design
    • System grounding schemes and resolving ground reference issues
    • Requirements development and test plan creation
    • Electrical interface control documents
    • Power supply design
    • Detailed printed circuit board layout

What we offer:
