Job Description

This position requires onsite work at Tucson, AZ and an active Secret security Clearance. Candidates who do not hold this clearance are not eligible for hire.

Solidus is seeking a skilled Production Test Engineer (PTE) to join our dynamic manufacturing team and support the product test process across all lifecycle phases from development and production transition to sustained manufacturing and depot activities. In this role, you will ensure prime hardware and supporting test equipment comply with technical data package requirements, lead troubleshooting efforts, and drive continuous improvement projects to optimize test efficiency, yields, and capacity.

As a critical link in our operations, you will manage process and configuration changes, lead root‑cause investigations, and develop cost‑effective test equipment obsolescence plans. Day in the Life
  • Supports the test process through one or more phases of the product lifecycle, including product development, transition to production, sustained production, and depot activities
  • Validates and ensures compliance of the prime hardware to technical data package requirements and supporting test equipment
  • Performs troubleshooting and problem solving of test failures
  • Identifies opportunities in test processes to improve efficiency, yields and capacity
  • Supports creating Basis of Estimates (BOE) to estimate costs to add additional capacity, new capabilities and equipment obsolescence
  • Assures compliance of the prime hardware to technical data package requirements and supporting test equipment
  • Leads projects to reduce testing, improve efficiency, yields, and capacity
  • Drives manufacturing changes through process change board and supports engineering configuration changes at configuration change board
  • Responsible to validate all changes by conducting the prove‑in validation process after the change is completed
  • May be assigned projects to lead where they will track progress and execution either as the (CAM) cost account manager or a member of the project team
  • Troubleshoots and provides accurate rework instructions for the product hardware
  • Creation and maintenance of spares and the test equipment obsolescence plan
  • Creation of Basis of Estimates (BOE) to estimate costs to add additional capacity, new capabilities and equipment obsolescence
  • Leads projects to reduce test time, improve the test process through analysis of predictive metrics of trends, failure modes, and test yields
  • Develop test flows and contribute to test capacity analysis
  • Maintain changes to the test equipment technical data package which includes drawings, test instructions, test position manuals, and system software
  • Assist in non‑routine fault isolation, diagnosis and repair of the product or test equipment
  • Lead root cause and corrective action investigations and present findings, utilizing fault trees and knowledge point plans
  • Performs risk assessments and supports the programs risk register reviews
  • Leads projects and is responsible for execution
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • 5+ years of relevant software engineering experience
  • Strong ability to diagnose, isolate, and troubleshoot complex electrical or mechanical hardware and test equipment failures
  • Experience utilizing predictive metrics, trends, and failure modes to improve test yields and process efficiency
  • Proficiency in reading and maintaining technical data packages, including schematic drawings, test instructions, and system software manuals
  • Proven experience leading root‑cause and corrective action (RCCA) investigations using tools like fault trees
