In this role, you will lead a team to plan and execute survey and meteorology strategy, survey scanning, and drone pilot programs. You will supervise survey activities, subcontractors, field verification of materials, and daily data downloading and processing. Your leadership will ensure successful implementation of survey work with a project's safety, quality, and environmental programs.
Major Responsibilities- Oversee the survey team's implementation of the project safety, quality, and environmental programs.
- Oversee the project's survey control network.
- Provide oversight of survey works by direct hire surveyors in a given area or areas, coordinate all survey activities, and manage survey subcontract and resources if applicable.
- Manage sub-contracted survey crews, including verification of survey crews' control points and work.
- Provide expertise and technical support as related to survey to Field Engineering and Superintendents in a wide range of situations and configurations.
- Produce survey's scanning and metrology strategy and procedure document, which details the requirements for equipment, content, competence requirements and assessments, and accuracy, checking, validation, acceptance, and archiving.
- Assist the Corporate Survey Manager with competency evaluations and assignments of qualified scanning and metrology survey personnel.
- Direct and/or perform metrology field measurements utilizing Laser Tracker instrument and Spatial Analyzer software.
- Responsible for Bechtel Survey Global Operations, providing survey support to senior management and all GBUs.
- Produce the survey strategy and procedure document, detailing requirements for survey equipment, survey content, competence requirements and assessments, and survey accuracy, checking, validation, acceptance, and archiving.
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
- Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
- Knowledge of Bechtel's "Zero Incidents" safety program.
- Knowledge of Bechtel quality standards.
- Knowledge of construction survey principles.
- Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to heavy construction/industrial surveying field & office activities.
- Working knowledge of Bechtel construction procedures.
- Displays effective communications skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans in a clear and concise manner.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team‑based environment, able to formulate a working relationship with survey team members, other departments, contractors, and survey functional management.
- Demonstrated proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
- Excellent problem‑solving ability.
- Proficiency with Survey CAD software, including generation of Digital Terrain Models (DTM) and volume computations.
- Prior Energy GBU experience.
- Prior Bechtel mega‑project experience.
- FAA Part 107 - UAS Remote Pilot Certificate.
- Experience flying and supporting UAV / Drones operations.
- Experience with Leica and Trimble survey instruments and software.
- Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to heavy equipment machine control activities.
- Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to laser scanning field & office activities.
- Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to metrology field & office activities.
- Experience supervising Bechtel Craft is desirable.
- General awareness of environmental laws.
- Awareness of government compliance standards.
