Sr. Systems Engineer – EO/IR or RF Signal Processing
Location:
Tucson, AZ (Onsite). The role requires U.S. citizenship and a valid DoD Secret clearance (Interim clearance required prior to start). The position is available within RTX’s Processing, Guidance and Controls (PG&C) Center, part of the Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities Discipline.
- Collaborate in the design, development, prototyping, integration, testing, and performance assessment of RF or EO/IR signal processing algorithms and models.
- Work with simulations to develop and integrate algorithms into hardware and support development from program start‑up to live‑fire testing.
- Participate in engineering lab environments to test, verify, validate sensor models and algorithm performance in accordance with requirements.
- Support design reviews, peer reviews, and technical briefings to internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge across disciplines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- Signal processing experience in EO/IR, RF, Sonar or Acoustic domains.
- Proficiency in C programming or object‑oriented programming with C++, C#, or Java.
- Experience with algorithm design, implementation, testing and optimization.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Interim Secret U.S. government‑issued Security Clearance (and to obtain special program access after start).
- Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics or Applied Mathematics.
- Experience with missile system applications supporting customer programs.
- Familiarity with version control tools such as Azure Dev Ops and Git.
- Practical experience with EO/IR, RF, sonar or acoustic algorithms (edge detection, segmentation, image restoration, adaptive processing, beamforming, angle estimation, synthetic aperture processing, waveform design, tracking, feature extraction, classification/recognition).
- Proficiency in MATLAB or Python for data analysis.
- Strong communication skills and ability to present to technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Experience with hardware/software integration and collaboration with Guidance, Navigation and Control, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Hardware Engineering disciplines.
- Competitive salary range: $86,800 – $165,200 USD.
