Position Overview
Location:
Tucson, AZ (1151 E Hermans Rd, Building M02)
Type:
Onsite. U.S. citizenship required and an active Secret security clearance must be maintained.
Salary Range: 107,500 – 204,500 USD.
What You Will Do- Design, analyze, simulate, test, and document power conversion circuitry for motor control systems.
- Develop board‑mounted power electronics, 3‑phase inverter design, sensor interfacing, and controller circuits.
- Lead circuit card development through requirements, design, integration testing, and schedule management.
- Guide ECAD drafters in layout, routing, and layer stack‑up.
- Participate as SME on Controls Hardware Electronics.
- Degree in STEM; minimum 8 years of relevant experience or advanced degree + 5 years of relevant experience.
- Design, analysis, test, or simulation experience with motor types (Brushed, BLDC, PMSM) preferred.
- Experience with tools such as MATLAB, MathCAD, Mathematica.
- Analog electronics design experience (FETs/BJTs, op‑amps, band‑pass filters, clock/data termination, comparator circuits).
- Lab experience using oscilloscopes, DMMs, frequency generators, power supplies, and data acquisition systems.
- Familiarity with wide‑bandgap devices (SiC, GaN) and high‑voltage or high‑power (>400V, >10kW) designs.
- Three‑phase power systems, power‑factor control, inverter/rectifier development.
- Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Self‑starter, quick learner, strong time management, and appreciation for team structure.
- Experience communicating and documenting technical topics at a small‑team level.
- Experience with SIMPLIS, SABER, Mentor Graphics DxDesigner, or Hyper Lynx.
- Multi‑phase inverter design for HV applications, multi‑isolated power system design, hardware‑in‑the‑loop testing, and military specifications.
- Program‑management tools such as Earned Value.
- 9/80 schedule (every other Friday off).
