Raytheon's Hardware Electrical Engineering Team is looking for junior engineers with electronics knowledge to support the design and testing of electronic products and systems.
What You Will Do- Design, analyze, simulate, test, and document power conversion (and related analog) circuitry. This circuitry will dominantly involve 3‑phase inverter design, sensor interfacing and controller circuits, with a main emphasis on board‑mounted power end‑use applications.
- Hands‑on drafting & designing at a circuit card level.
- Help circuit card development progress through its design phases, from requirements definition through initial integration testing.
- Drive to meet schedule concerns and define schedules for circuit‑level tasking.
- Guide ECAD drafters through layout and routing activities, with moderate support from senior engineers, and assist in layer stackup definition.
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience, or an advanced STEM degree.
- Design, analysis, test, and/or simulation experience with motor types such as brushed, BLDC or PMSM is a plus.
- Experience using tools such as MATLAB, MathCAD, Mathematica, or other similar tools.
- Experience with analog electronics design, including at least one of: FETs/BJTs, op‑amps, high/low/band‑pass filters, clock/data termination, and comparator circuits.
- Experience working in a lab setting and using lab tools such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, frequency generators, power supplies, and data acquisition systems.
- An advanced degree in Electrical Engineering.
- A self‑starter, quick learner, able to function in a dynamic environment, with good time‑management skills and an appreciation for successful team structures.
- Experience communicating and documenting technical topics at the small team level.
- Experience in any one of the following:
- Familiarity with wide bandgap devices (SiC, GaN) in power electronics designs and simulators such as SIMPLIS or SABER, Mentor Graphics DxDesigner, or Hyperlynx.
- Military specifications.
- Design considerations for voltages > 400V and/or power > 10kW, including three‑phase power systems, power factor control, and inverter/rectifier development.
- Program management tools such as Earned Value.
- Work schedule:
9/80 schedule (every other Friday off). - Relocation eligibility for this position.
- Salary range: 68,900 USD – 131,100 USD (good‑faith estimate).
