Our team in the USA is growing. We are currently recruiting for a Lead Electrical Engineer to join our Minerals & Metals Business line in either our Tucson, AZ or Denver, CO offices. In this role, you will be responsible for the leadership, coordination, and delivery of electrical engineering packages for complex mining and mineral processing projects, across both greenfield and brownfield developments.

As the Lead Electrical Engineer, you will oversee all aspects of electrical design and integration, ensuring compliance with industry standards, project requirements, and internal quality frameworks. This is a key leadership position that involves close coordination with multiple engineering disciplines, design supervision, as well as, client and supplier interfacing to ensure successful project outcomes. Further, this role requires the technical mentoring of younger engineers in their career path.

About

The Role
  • Lead and manage the development of electrical engineering deliverables across all project phases (concept, FEED, detailed design, and execution).
  • Provide technical direction for the design of HV and LV power distribution, motor control centers (MCCs), substations, lighting, earthing, and communication systems.
  • Coordinate electrical design activities with other disciplines, procurement, and construction teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Review and approve electrical specifications, single-line diagrams, cable sizing, load calculations, equipment layouts, and procurement documents.
  • Ensure engineering outputs comply with applicable codes (e.g., IEC, IEEE, NEMA), safety regulations, and client specifications.
  • Mentor and provide technical oversight to junior and intermediate electrical engineers and designers.
  • Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, FATs, and site inspections as needed.
  • Support project management with schedule and cost tracking, progress reporting, and risk identification.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for clients on electrical engineering matters.
  • Develop electrical designs, drawings and schedules including preliminary, schematic, general arrangement, detailed design, tender and construction drawings for a wide range of clients.
  • Ability to lead the preparation of drawings and utilization of CAD aided design software for the creation of single line diagrams, motor schematics and wiring, general arrangements, distribution panels, grounding, lighting, fire alarm, cable raceway and installation design.
  • Work as Engineer of Record to stamp engineering deliverables and sign off projects.
  • Visit project sites to conduct assessments of existing electrical systems, and to inspect new installations.
About You
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 10+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a lead or senior engineering capacity on mining, mineral processing, or heavy industrial projects.
  • Professional Engineer Licence that is current in one of the following states: CO, AZ, NV, , or SC and able to obtain missing states via reciprocity.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems for large-scale industrial facilities, including substations, switch gear, VFDs, and power distribution networks.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation, controls, SCADA, and schematic/wiring is an asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership in coordinating multidiscipline design teams in an EPC/EPCM environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Able to obtain MSHA certification.
  • Able to travel.
