Hiring Range: $87,110 - $104,561 Annually

The Pima County Regional Flood Control District's mission is to protect the health, safety and welfare of Pima County residents by providing comprehensive flood protection programs and floodplain management services that emphasize fiscal responsibility, protection of natural resources, and providing a balanced multi-objective approach to managing regional watercourses, floodplains, and stormwater resources.

This position is in the Engineering and Landscape Architecture Division with the primary responsibility being to design and oversee construction of flood control and drainage improvements, including Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) projects. Additionally, you will assist in the review and implementation of larger Capital Improvement Projects being designed by consultants. The successful candidate will consider federal, state and local floodplain management regulations in the review of privately financed drainage improvements associated with new development.

* Supervises a team in the investigation, design and preparation or review of plans, estimates and reports involved in the construction and maintenance of public works projects;

* Plans, organizes, directs and reviews the work of engineering groups and/or consultants in the analysis to optimize operations of public works systems;

* Coordinates planning and design with other County departments, other jurisdictions and governmental agencies;

* Performs complex and technical engineering work on large scale projects;

* Prepares and reviews invitations to bid and analyzes bid submittals;

* Participates in the administration of contract solicitation and selection;

* Prepares and reviews comprehensive technical reports and studies;

* Confers with Section supervisors, consultants and/or contractors on progress of work and finished projects;

* Reviews plans and specifications prepared under contract and administers construction contracts;

* Coordinates construction work with other departments, other jurisdictions, and the general public;

* Reviews design plans and technical reports for private development for conformance to County standards;

* Maintains work schedules for assigned personnel;

* Oversees the construction of public works complex projects and systems analysis;

* Interprets engineering and administrative directives, policies and standards;

* Reviews completed work for conformance with original job instructions and accepted engineering practices;

* Reviews or checks designs, drawings, profiles, and as-built drawings for adequacy, soundness of engineering features and practicality;

* Directs the activities of project engineers on assigned projects;

* Oversees engineering planning studies;

* Prepares and reviews changes to established design standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering or closely-related field as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment AND two years of post-registration professional engineering experience AND current registration or licensure in any state as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Professional…
