Electrical Prototyping Inspection Technician

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Prototyping Inspection Technician to support engineering teams in developing and validating prototype electrical hardware. This role involves testing, inspection, troubleshooting, and ensuring compliance with customer requirements and industry standards throughout the product lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Test and inspect complex prototype electrical assemblies for quality and workmanship standards.
  • Interpret electrical/mechanical drawings, schematics, 3D models, and specifications.
  • Perform troubleshooting and validation of new hardware designs.
  • Identify defects, document discrepancies, and communicate findings to engineering teams.
  • Support design reviews and provide feedback for producibility and reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, maintainability, and performance standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve product designs.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Required qualifications include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience inspecting electrical assemblies in an engineering environment.
  • Experience with at least three of the following: wire harnesses / cables, breakout boxes, chassis, circuit card modifications, racked electronic systems.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (required for security clearance eligibility).
  • Preferred qualifications include:

    • Experience with inspection tools: CMM, calipers, micrometers, optical comparators.
    • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
    • Experience with First Article Inspection (FAI), Root Cause Analysis, DCMA audits.
    • Certifications:

      IPC 610, IPC 620, J-STD-001 (Soldering).
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Adobe (including 3D PDFs).
    • Strong communication and documentation skills.
    • Associate degree, military electronics training, or technical certification preferred.
