Are you a passionate and aspiring urban planner or engineer in college who is eager to dive into the world of transportation planning and engineering? If so, we have an exciting opportunity to kickstart your career as a Transportation Intern. In this role, you will have the chance to work alongside our team of experienced professionals, gaining invaluable hands-on experience in the dynamic field of transportation planning and engineering.

We're looking for two motivated and detail-oriented individuals who are ready to contribute to real-world projects, learn from industry experts, and play a vital role in shaping the future of urban mobility, traffic engineering, and operations.

These year-round, part-time internships are designed for undergraduate or graduate students currently enrolled in an engineering or planning program.

You will perform a variety of administrative, operational, and technical tasks within the Planning and Engineering Division or Mobility, Innovation & Technology Division in the Transportation Department. This will include opportunities for coordinating stakeholders for transportation planning meetings, use of Geographic Information Systems, project development and engineering reviews, and traffic engineering and operation exercises.

This classification is in the unclassified service and is exempt from the Pima County Merit System Rules.

Positions within this classification will perform a variety of administrative, operational or technical tasks as assigned by the department.

• Current enrollment in an accredited college or university at the undergraduate or graduate level in an engineering (e.g ., mechanical, civil, electrical ) or related science discipline appropriate to department's needs (e.g., hydrology, environmental sciences, architecture, watershed management, transportation, soil & water science, computer science, data analytics, etc .).
• Qualifying education and experience must be clearly documented in the "Education" and "Work Experience" sections of the application. Do not substitute a resume for your application or write "see resume" on your application.

• Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate level technology, civil engineering or planning degree program.
• Previous course work in the systems, engineering or planning undergraduate or graduate programs.
• Experience with written and verbal communication as illustrated by previous reports, presentations, or class participation.
• Experience with/knowledge of transportation engineering/planning principles and methodologies, as demonstrated through coursework or prior work experience.
