Salary Range: $62,000 – $81,000 annually, depending on experience

CADDTECHNICIAN II (4-9 YEARS) ROLE
Riley Engineering is seeking an experienced CADD Technician to support the planning, design, and delivery of civil infrastructure projects throughout the southwest. This position is ideal for a skilled drafting professional who can work independently, contribute to project design teams, and assist in the development of junior staff while preparing high-quality engineering deliverables.
The successful candidate will collaborate with engineers, project managers, surveyors, and designers to develop construction documents, maintain project quality standards, and support a variety of water, wastewater, drainage, transportation, and site development projects. This role offers opportunities for technical growth, leadership development, and increased responsibility within a collaborative team environment.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES- Develop civil engineering designs and construction drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Prepare plan sets, profiles, cross-sections, grading plans, utility layouts, and supporting project documentation.
- Create and modify alignments, corridors, surfaces, pipe networks, and assemblies in Civil 3D.
- Import and interpret survey data, utility information, GIS data, and as-built records.
- Coordinate drafting and design efforts with engineers, project managers, surveyors, and other technical staff.
- Perform detailed grading and drainage design under the direction of project engineers.
- Assist in the design and drafting of water, wastewater, stormwater, and transportation infrastructure projects.
- Review drawings for completeness, consistency, accuracy, and compliance with project standards.
- Identify drafting and design conflicts and work with project teams to develop solutions.
- Apply and maintain Riley Engineering CAD standards and quality control procedures.
- Assist with project production planning and support efforts to improve drafting workflows and efficiencies.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior CADD staff.
- Support project teams throughout all phases of design, from initial concepts through final construction documentation.
- Participate in technical training and professional development activities.
- Associate degree, technical certificate, or equivalent training in Drafting Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, CADD, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 4-9 years of experience in civil engineering drafting and design.
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Experience preparing construction plans using Sheet Set Manager (SSM) and engineering deliverables for civil infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of surveying, grading, utility design, and construction document preparation.
- Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with municipal infrastructure projects, including water, wastewater, drainage, and transportation improvements.
- Familiarity with CAD standards development and quality control procedures.
- Experience training or mentoring junior technicians.
- Knowledge of GIS integration, utility coordination, and survey data processing.
- 40 hours per week, based in our Tucson, AZ office
